Friday Eaglecrest update

Update from Eaglecrest: Good Morning Nordic Fans! There is some work to be done on the lower Nordic trail this morning. We are working to get a cat out there and check the snow depth this morning. There is quite a breakable crust currently and conditions are...

Eaglecrest not ready for prime time

The lower loop was in terrible shape this morning. Thick breakable snowpack made for slow going and treacherous downhills. Once I made it to the meadow I could ski-set a track that was okay. I had to sidestep one steep downhill coming out of the meadow. Scott tried to...

Eaglecrest is officially open!

Eaglecrest has officially begun operations and the lower loop is starting to show signs of packing and grooming. This means that winter season rules for the nordic trails are now in force, which means NO FOOT TRAFFIC and NO DOGS on the lower and upper loops....

Groomer

Perfect for skate right now but it is starting to rain a little. Too thin to set a classic track.

Eaglecrest lower loop partially groomed for skate skiing

Eaglecrest says they have groomed the hardened sections of the lower loop for skate skiing. I don’t think they set a classic track, and the surface may be a little on the soft side since it is the first snowcat grooming of the season. Enjoy! — Jack K.

Fun ski!

A barely breakable crust made for a pretty darn enjoyable, classic Ski experience this afternoon. Bring your wide ski pole baskets!

Breakable crust on the lower loop

Yesterday afternoon the lower loop had plenty of snow but a breakable wind crust, I wouldn’t recommend it. There was a skier set track from the day before but some bozo post holed on foot in the track all the way around the meadow, so the track was wrecked. Aaaargh!...

Not today

The campground is frozen solid with footprints, dog prints, overflow ice and some exposed hazards. No grooming is possible today (nor was it yesterday) but snow is in the forecast!

Eaglecrest Report

I would love an Eaglecrest lower loop update if anyone skied there this morning. Should be OK for touring but might have ended up with a crust from the wet snow yesterday. Thanks! — Jack K.
