Jan.4th Mendenhall Lake

Mendenhall Lake is not safe to groom due to these conditions. 8 inches of powder snow a top 5 inches of saturated slush on 7 inches of very soft bubbley ice. Skiing on the lake is not recommended.

Ice is not safe for us to groom and reportedly not safe for people either – Multiple weak layers – recommend staying off the ice.

Mendenhall Lake a No go for Grooming

Skating is really good and classic is OK too. I added a bonus loop that starts out by the point and goes towards the visitor center

March 10th Lake is Ready

Lake has been drilled at 14 sites on our Nordic Loop average of 12 inches of soft ice through out the course. No slush found. 2 Kilometers have been groomed on crusty ice. Forecast for snow will help.
