EC upper loop nice for touring

Snow is soft and easy to ski tour on upper loop. I skied entire upper loop this morning, with a few interesting creek crossings and an occasional bushwhack through light brush. Easy hike up either Sneaky or road and no problem skiing down on skinny skis.

Dan Moller

Enjoyed the quiet of the valley sans snow machines again Saturday – starting from the DMoller trailhead on Pioneer, hike the short woods trail till the trees open up where you can put on skis and head right through the connecting trail to the northwest lower...

Adequate snow for touring on Upper, maybe Lower loop!

Some folks are using touring skis on lower loop, and lots of uphill traffic to Upper Loop area, where there is plenty of snow to ski around on classic touring skis and have a picnic. Might be good for next several days! (But not enough snow to groom.) Backcountry...

Dan Moller

No Nordic at EC this weekend

No Nordic grooming this weekend; only a few inches on the upper loop. Porcupine lift is open but not the Grill or coffee shop. Montana creek might be best chance to skate or classic.

Skate and Classic

Groomed for Skate from gate to end of trail. Classic starts at top of hill groomed on both sides all the way up. Report was that it was good classic skiing. Parking lot was icy.

No groomable snow at Eaglecrest

The six inches of snow received on the Upper Loop is being washed away as I type. Unless temps cool significantly there will be no grooming this weekend, except on the Porcupine lift which will be open this weekend for alpine skiing and uphill Nordic skiing (really...

Dan Moller Valley

Velvety conditions up in the Dan Moller valley. Started waking at the lower lot on Pioneer. Once out of the trees skied over to the meadow north of the boardwalk, still below the Treadwell. The sticks in the trail bottom leading to the north meadow are tricky, got...

Porcupine Chair will again be open this weekend Feb. 27-28, and the Muskeg run provides a really fun way to interval train– just skate or classic ski uphill, then turn around and ski down the gentle hill, then do it again. And again. And… then go inside...
