TMNT

Yes, the manhole covers are visible at the campground. It won’t be long now before the skiing gets much worse or much better. Steve did a great job conserving and surfacing Sunday morning. I went 4 laps and they felt like a million bucks. Cooler temps last night...

Endurance

Keep your eyes peeled for leopard seals. They are rumored to be lurking near the speed bumps at the campground where they stalk unwary skiers and burst through the thin ice to consume their prey. The coverage is thin, but we aren’t singing...

still skiing

Thanks to Sedgesprite I ventured out to the Campground this noon. It was just fine, like spring corn snow for skate skiing. Classic was icey hard so good double pole/ core work out if you choose that gear.

High and Tight

Groomer got so fired up at all the folks at the Dzantik’i Heeni potluck he made his way to the campground for some night maneuvers. Selecting a ‘coast guard cut’, the results were pretty good. For once: Lucky you if you can’t sleep and go...

Thursday- still skiing

Better than you’d think. Get it while you can. Boots on the ground say the skating is still quite good. Sedgesprite got it before grooming, good, and ARoma got it after grooming- very good.

Well preserved

I took waxless classic gear and it was good at 2PM. It’s still a little slick but really ok coverage still on two tracks. The skate lane looked ok minus a few icy patches. There is still snow in the trees to give you an idea how cold it is there.

Mendenahall Campground still good!

Scott just called in from the campground and reports the track froze last night so no snow was lost. He is grooming it out right now and says it should be good skate skiing. Watch for bare spots over the speed bumps. I don’t think he’ll be able to do...

Ginzu

Light Ginzu, left classic tracks alone, as they looked fine. Wet, skate lane seemed soft but skiable. Don and Chris Thomas were leaving to ski it as I finished grooming. To soft to bike, and dog walkers will hammer it, also.

soft

CG groomed this morning by Steve G. Soft and wet with some icy places. It is not going to hold up with 40 degree weather. Speed bumps starting to show.

Skier

I skied Montana after Don groomed yesterday and it was springlike and nice for my no wax (Klister fine too)… thanks… like he says, if you see the rocks, send ’em into that babbling creek! Thanks to all the groomers for their early season...

Lower Loop this week

Lower Loop will not be set by volunteers this week with the classic sled, due to low snow and wetness, until it snows again. Also, Eaglecrest crews are using power brush cutters to trim low growing brush on the trail, to prep it for the next snow fall!

Sunday noon

5.1 km of good classic track. Soft spring-like but firm and fast! High overcast. Grill and coffee stand open. Worth the trip!! Thanks to Jack for grooming and Betsy for measuring.

Sun. Dec. 7

I groomed this morning for both classic and skate. No rain last night there just wet snow so surface groomed up nicely. Classic track is good and skate surface very good although the large number of skaters, walkers, runners, bikers, dogs and nordic skiers will take...
