Lower Loop update

The 8 inches of light snow on the lower loop isn’t deep enough to set a classic track, need another few inches. However, there is good coverage on the gravel trail and probably enough snow for a skier set classic track. There is a thin ice crust on top, but...

Upper Loop open Friday-Sunday

Upper Loop groomed for 2 km of skate skiing, daily Friday-Sunday, 2 km. Uphill access is to walk up Sneaky, stay left; also recommend walking down same way. Trail passes required starting Saturday,

Upper Loop is wind scoured

I was up there at 10AM and it’s hard and bumpy from wind-scouring. Skate edges don’t bite but the forecasted snow should soften things.

Eaglecrest Jan 4 Repor

Cold, clear and decent skating. The upper loop is in. A new whoop de do on the other side of the creek. Thanks Nate! No crowds today. For adventure nordic skate try Cropley Lake.

Sat Jan 3 – Upper Loop groomed for skate skiing

Hike up from lodge to bottom of Sneaky using ice cleats (very icy). Then hike up Sneaky on groomed man-made snow. At top of Sneaky it is possible to skate ski on groomed snow to Black Bear chair. Eaglecrest has groomed about 2 km of nordic trails. Snow has been tilled...

Skating on man-made snow

The Porcupine Lift is closed til Saturday and the 2″ of soft snow (1″ new ) is perfect for skating up and down the Dolly Varden and Muskeg runs.

Lower Loop is gone

With our recent rain and warm temperatures, most of the lower loop has melted down to muskeg, gravel, or glare ice, so we are done skiing there until we get at least 6-8 inches of fresh snow. If you walk the trail, you will want your ice cleats. OK to walk your dog on...

Lower Loop this week

Lower Loop will not be set by volunteers this week with the classic sled, due to low snow and wetness, until it snows again. Also, Eaglecrest crews are using power brush cutters to trim low growing brush on the trail, to prep it for the next snow fall!

Sunday noon

5.1 km of good classic track. Soft spring-like but firm and fast! High overcast. Grill and coffee stand open. Worth the trip!! Thanks to Jack for grooming and Betsy for measuring.

Saturday noon Lower Loop

Jack groomed nice classic trail. Snowing gently. Mostly decent skiing. Bring scraper and maxiglide if you ice up after damp spots in meadow . Note trail is officially closed.
