Breakable crust on the lower loop

Yesterday afternoon the lower loop had plenty of snow but a breakable wind crust, I wouldn’t recommend it. There was a skier set track from the day before but some bozo post holed on foot in the track all the way around the meadow, so the track was wrecked. Aaaargh!...

Eaglecrest Report

I would love an Eaglecrest lower loop update if anyone skied there this morning. Should be OK for touring but might have ended up with a crust from the wet snow yesterday. Thanks! — Jack K.

Eaglecrest early season lessons for intermediate skiers

You know that feeling when you put on skis for the first time at the beginning of winter and it takes a while to get back in the groove you had going last spring? Eaglecrest Ski Area is offering early-season nordic lessons, for both skate and classic skiers who want...

First grooming effort of the season

Scott took the track setter on the hardened section of the lower loop with some success. The snowpack was frozen hard with a skim of fresh snow and deep tracks were frozen into the snow from previous days’ traffic, but he could still smooth it out a little and...

Upper Loop fully groomed

The upper loop trails at Eaglecrest were fully groomed this morning. No classic track but the classic skiing is quite easy in the soft corn snow. Soft track for skating, but still very skiable. Every inch is groomed and it is very good! Access via Trickster or Sneaky...

Upper loop is groomed!

Very nice skiing on the upper loop! Every inch has solid coverage. Check out the spur trail from the Troy Loop into the Hilda Cr drainage. No classic track but the snow is so nice and springlike that you don’t need one. Climb up Sneaky for access. Trickster is in the...

Good morning skiing at Eaglecrest

Loosen up, Goldilocks. The porridge might be hot, or lumpy, or even soupy, but it’s what we’ve got. Through noon Tuesday there was a bit of consistent corn on a fairly supportive base, and everything skied fairly well. Upper loop skated great until about...

Eaglecrest trails still going strong

Full coverage on the entire lower loop and I expect the upper loop is also in great shape. Spring snow conditions, and of course no fresh grooming, so classic skis are recommended. A fun ski in the sun!

Eaglecrest trails groomed – conditions are prime

Trails should be firm and fast this morning, and with a high of 34 today remain solid throughout. The lower loop is groomed for both classic and skate skiing. No dogs are allowed on the regular lower loop trails as well as the upper loop trails. The upper loop is also...

Eaglecrest to open all terrain to motorized use

All Eaglecrest trails are open to motorized use. Watch for snowmachines, atv’s, dirt bikes, and D8 cats. A demolition derby will be held on the lower loop in the afternoon, so please try to avoid collisions and stay safe. Helmets and full body armor recommended....

Lower Loop

Lower loop an A++++. About an inch of new snow. Groomed for skate and classic. Soft and fast.

Lower Loop Report

Skied the lower loop at 2 pm on nordic waxless skis. After it being rock hard and icy yesterday evening, today it was beautiful, soft groomed snow. If it was too icy to ski the tracks, the groomed corduroy was just fine. There’s still tons of snow on the lower...
Ride Hooter to upper loop!

Ride Hooter to upper loop!

The upper loop is phenomenal this morning! Your Nordic pass gives you a ride up Hooter. All you need is a string or strap from your ski to your boot it leg. You can give the lift operator a thumbs down to request that they slow it for you. Then easy traverse over to...

Cold snow and blue skies!

Upper and lower loop trails are freshly groomed for skate and classic. Conditions are firm and fast! It is 24 degrees at the base this morning, but the sun will be warm, especially in the afternoon. Groomers have worked hard for ten days straight during spring break,...
