The meadows are phenomenal powder. The Lake Creek trail is all frozen up so no more mud holes. We put skis on at the main meadow. The lower trail is too thin for skiing but a nice hike.Nov 26, 2019 | Backcountry
The lake creek access is a bit muddy but the skiing is awesome with about 10 inches of powdery snow up high.Feb 24, 2019 | Backcountry
skied to Auk Mountain and found a foot more snow than last weekend, wow! Possible to walk to the Muir Cabin but we skied all the way down past the big bridge on the trail.Feb 18, 2019 | Backcountry
On Friday the lower Peterson Lake trail has ok coverage for rock skis. The traverse through the woods is thin. The marked trail between John Muir and Peterson is excellent as is the ski to Spaulding from John Muir. Skiing down Saturday from John Muir is good in the...Feb 16, 2019 | Backcountry
Laid fresh corduroy for skating this evening. It should set up tonight and be really good Sunday. Merry said it was excellent! I did not touch the classic track as we need more snow. Enjoy the road or head to the Mendenhall Campground and Lake and participate with the...Feb 15, 2019 | Backcountry

Come on out for some Island Time – the crowds are non existent and the skiing is good. A few rocks, but nothing to freak out about – just pay attention especially in the classic tracks. The skating is fast and fun. Planning to regroom when we get some more...Feb 10, 2019 | Backcountry
The Pioneer Road was gorgeous Saturday with what seems like great conditions. But the snow is deceivingly thin and sharp rocks will gouge your skis so be careful especially in the tracks. Bring your old rock skis and watch out for some that will stop you in your...Feb 8, 2019 | Backcountry

Skied the N. Douglas access road today. Tracks for classic are set well. After 3 falls and a broken pole, my advice under current conditions is you need to know now to stop going down hill. When I got out of the tracks to snow plow, the groomed part in the middle was...Jan 15, 2019 | Backcountry
On Tuesday the classic track is still great and faster now that we’ve had some freezing. The skate lane is a bit bumpy with footprints and dog prints. The snow has firmed up. It hasn’t been groomed since Saturday.

11:00AM skated Pioneer road. Hmmmm, type II fun? I enjoyed it. It’s pretty sporty on the final descent back to the car, but otherwise….might be more fun on classic skis. I’d volunteer to groom this Thursday if we could arrange...
