Upper Loop groomed this morning. Hilda Meadow/Stadium, Black Bear Hill, and part way toward Lower Hilda groomed for skate and classic. It turned out really nice. There are still some staubs to watch out for, muskeg pond dips, off camber areas and a few ridges / track marks from grooming. Access via Sneaky – stay on lookers left going uphill and skiers right going downhill (that is the Troy side of the ski run) and via the groomed nordic trail uphill of the Hilda dam just below Black Bear chair – the cabin access road has rocks.
Weather – it was a bit brisk this morning (temp unknown) with clear skies. There was a slight breeze in some areas with some snow transfer/drifting on Black Bear Hill/Loop. Snow is firm and slightly abrasive, but not icy.
Lower Loop is skiable if you are careful and look for rocks and woody hazards. Looks like fun skiing if you are willing to make your own tracks and have low expectations.
