Most of the Lower Loop has been groomed for skate skiing. It is still early season conditions, the gravel trail has good coverage, some vegetation poking through in the meadows. The snowcat broke through the ice on a pond in the meadow and chewed up some mud, not enough spare snow to blade it or other problem areas and thins spots over, so we need to let the cold weather freeze up the ponds and wet spots in the muskeg before the loop is groomed again. I think we could set a classic track on the gravel trail down and back with a snowmachine, will talk to Matt and Nate about that tomorrow.
Only problem with skating is it might be slow, 11 degrees on the lower loop at 3 PM Friday, wax for cold temps. Good touring conditions off the groomed.

What about shoveling snow off the wet spots to aid in the freezing? -Ice Road Trucker.
Thanks for the update and grooming Jack.
But why would you ski the lower loop when you could ski the best powder at Eaglecrest in 3 years??? 🙂
