If you want the best groomed skate and classic skiing in Juneau, head to the upper loop. Hike up Trickster or ride the Hooter lift. You must have a ski leash or other restraining device (like a string or cord) tied to your leg/boot and connected to your ski in some manner. This is actually a state law. And of course you should have your nordic pass whether you hike or ride the lift. Lower loop is partly groomed and classic skiing is lovely in the fresh snow. Skate skiing is a bit more limited on the lower loop.
