The Mendenhall Lake is lovely for classic, ice skating (ask John Neary!) and enjoying the sun. Blue wax . No need for rock skis but grab them for the campground- it was rolled by a master! with the 1-2″ snowfall; plenty of rocks and will clean up with 2-4″...Jan 23, 2018 | Mendenhall Campground

I rolled and groomed Mendenhall and it went from about 6 fresh inches to 1 1/2 inches groomed. So there’s enough to classic without tracks set (too Shallow) and skating at least for the early part of the day.
