Mendenhall Lake
When snow and lake ice conditions permit. Ski at your own risk! The trail leaves from the Skaters Cabin. The ski loop distance varies from ~4-9 km. The trail is suitable for all abilities of both skate and classic skiers and can be opened or closed for weeks at a time depending on conditions. Lake skiing can offer outstanding views of the surrounding mountains and Mendenhall Glacier but can be windy and foggy. Skiers with dogs should keep them under control and clean up after them. There is an outhouse next to the Skaters Cabin. Parking is in front of Skaters Cabin and the West Glacier Trailhead, Skaters Cabin Road, Juneau, AK 99801.
