Eagle Beach Campground

The trails at Eagle River State Recreation Area (located at milepost 27.5, about 1/4 mile past the Eagle River bridge) are mostly groomed by the onsite caretaker, with occasional grooming by JNSC volunteers. The campground and surrounding trails (~5km) are groomed for skate and classic skiing, with occossional skiing under the Eagle River bridge and back behind the Methodist Camp when snow allows. The trails start from the parking lot and wind through the campground, up-river, past the Berry Patch Cabin, and with enough snow can connect to additional trails at the Methodist Camp accessed under the Eagle River Bridge. The terrain is flat and can offer great river, forest, and mountain views. The forest can offer protection from on-shore breezes. Permanent outhouses are available in the parking lot. A few State Parks rules to be aware of:

  • Dogs must be kept on leash.
  • Be mindful of no parking signs. Limited parking exists in the parking lot, but there is additional overflow parking right outside the park entrance off the highway.
  • Unfortunately, the electric car charging station is out of commission.
