The Juneau Nordic Ski Club is excited to again sponsor Ski O’Caching, an event for individual and family skiers of all ages and abilities who are JNSC members (not a member? Click here!) The event is a cross between geocaching and orienteering using cross country skis to gain access to weekly clues posted somewhere along or near a groomed trail. As with “geo-caching”, registered participants and families will receive location clues with GPS coordinates by every Friday evening via email for five consecutive weeks. The goal is to initiate this year’s event by January 17th (snow permitting).

Each clue will be posted near the GPS location and will be part of a five-word sentence.  At the end of the 5-week event, contestants can submit, via email, what they believe to be the completed sentence. If correct, they will be eligible for a drawing of several great prizes. To register email skiocaching@gmail.com and use the subject portion to say ‘register for the Ski O’Caching Event’. JNSC will then send out GPS coordinates via email to registered participants by the evening of each Friday, until the end of the 5-week event. Participants must then submit their rendition of the complete sentence by email no later than a week after the final clue is posted, February 21st. You must be a JNSC member to participate.
