The termination dust on the Mendenhall Towers means only one thing: registration for youth ski teams and programs opens Tuesday, October 1st! More info and registration links can be found at: www.jnski.org/youth-programs. With the changes in our school district this year, we have a few updates on each program:
Juneau-Douglas Yadaa.at Kalé High School Ski Team
Season runs November – February.
While this team is now an official Juneau School District sponsored sport (yay!), any Juneau high school student (JDYKHS, Yaaḵoosgé Daakahídi, home school) can still participate. The main difference is students will now follow eligibility requirements set forth by the district. The JNSC will continue to provide support through ski rentals, fundraising activities, trail grooming, home races, etc.Juneau Nordic Middle School Ski Team (grades 6th-8th)
Season runs January 4 – March 9.
Yes, most Juneau 6th graders now attend their neighborhood elementary school. Our middle school team, however, will continue to welcome all 6th through 8th grade skiers.
