The ice report is from drilling along our grooming route on 2/28/24. Ice minimum thickness is 13″ with decent ice quality. See attached image. The great news is with the continuing cold temps the ice is getting thicker and stronger.
Important Safety Note: The ice thickness that is measured, is only at the specific test holes and ice thickness and quality varies across the lake. If you decide to go off piste and go over toward the face of the glacier – beware. The glacier calves year around and when it does this time of year it fractures the lake ice resulting in dangerous ice conditions. Also the ice is significantly thinner near the start of the river and where creeks flow into the lake – give them a wide berth.
