skier2.jpgWe’ve been taking a little time off the trails recently to construct this new JNSC website. The old site lived on a dysfunctional server, which we couldn’t seem to update even after seeking tech help. So we finally decided to let it die an unceremonious death and put a more modern site together.

The beauty of this new site is that it invites the involvement of all who visit it. You can browse through the posts and their associated comments in chronological order, or you can click on a category to see all the posts and comments that fall under that category. You can also jump into the fray at any time and write your own comment for all to read. The main post will present the framework, but the dynamic part will be the comments.

Some of the categories will be particularly active once we get up a head of steam here. The Trail Conditions Forum is the place to find out (or report) in virtually real time how the conditions are on our various groomed trails. The groomers themselves usually comment after setting, as do several of our most avid skiers. So before you make the long drive to Eaglecrest or Skater’s cabin, check in to see the status of the trails.

There is a place to advertise used gear for sale under Nordic Gear, as well as a lost and found. Tips or questions on what gear to use can be found here, and there is a waxing section too.

The Nordic Ski Technique category is a place to share tips or ask questions on getting around most gracefully on your old boards. We will be posting upcoming events in the JNSC Activities category, and this is another good place to weigh in with your own suggestions.

So jump right in and add your ideas for this website, our club, or our great sport of Nordic skiing.  Just click on “Comments” under the appropriate heading and share your thoughts.  We’re just getting started on building out this site, and you can help with your ideas as we go.
